Add a Degree/Dual Degree Instructions

Applying to the Robotics Dual-Degree: 

  1. Meet the following requirements:

    • Completed at least one semester at U-M.

    • Have demonstrated preparation and interest in robotics

    • Have a U-M graduate GPA of 3.5 or higher

  2. Complete the Rackham Application for Add a Degree (Dual Degree):

    • Complete the “Apply to Add a Degree or Certificate Program” online application.

      • Robotics MS program code is 02111.
    • Your home program will be notified of your application upon submission; they will review and enter a decision. 

    • Application is then routed to Robotics for review.

  3. Prepare the following and send to um-robotics@umich.edu upon submitting your online application:

    • U-M transcript (unofficial is okay)

    • Statement of Purpose

    • Paragraph explaining how you plan to fulfill the ROB 590 Requirement

    • Students planning to get more than one master’s degree or certificate should complete the Add a Degree Election Form (Recommended, not required. This explains how many credits can count towards two programs and provides a guide to plan your courses accordingly. You will be required to complete this form when you graduate.)
  4. OPTIONAL: Meet with a Robotics Grad Coordinator to review your proposed plan of study for a dual degree at U-M.

  5. Submit all materials to Robotics Graduate Coordinator by the deadlines below.

Deadlines:

To add degree during the Winter Term: April 1

To add degree during the Fall Term: December 1

Current Students Applying to Other Programs:

Current Robotics Students interested in applying to a dual degree in other programs should meet with the program of interest and complete the  “Apply to Add a Degree or Certificate Program” application.
